Ranking Notes
- Dynasty ratings are based over the next 5 years and based on traditional 5×5 roto category scoring formats
- In what’s considered a down year for Gunnar Henderson, he is still on pace to finish with 20 homeruns and 20 stolen bases. The power should bounce back as his bat speed and exit velocities are among the league’s best. At 24, Gunnar is just entering his prime and is a five-category contributor.
- Francisco Lindor has been Mr. consistent in his career. In the nine seasons Lindor has played 100+ games, he will have had only two seasons in which he did not hit 25+ homeruns and steal 15+ stolen bases. While it is hard to bet against Lindor, his bat speed has started to decline and expect the power and speed output to decline as he approaches mid-30s.
- Konnor Griffin is the top prospect in MLB for good reason. A physical specimen with elite speed and power, Griffin has quickly climbed the organizational ranks and was just promoted to Double-A. His advanced tools and quick promotion suggest a potential big-league debut sometime in 2026.
- Geraldo Perdomo has broken out in 2025 as one of the top fantasy shortstops. While he lacks the power that typically is associated with top fantasy options at the position, Perdomo makes up for it with a strong hit tool, plate discipline, and speed. His high floor makes him a reliable contributor, though his current ceiling remains capped by his limited power.
- Anthony Volpe has proven to be a better fantasy shortstop than a real-life one early in his career. He’s been nearly automatic for 20 homeruns and 20 stolen bases early in his career, offering consistent category juice despite some flaws in his overall game. At just 24 years old, there’s still room for growth in his real-life and fantasy value.
- Jesús Made, Luis Peña, and Leo De Vries are all high-upside shortstop prospects who are a few years away from projected MLB debuts.
- Made has the highest upside of the trio due to his five-tool profile.
- De Vries, recently promoted to Double-A could debut the quickest. He has plus power and discipline but has yet to show stolen base upside.
- Pena does not have the same power upside as the other two but still has high upside due to his projected strong hit tool and speed.
- Ezequiel Tovar brings unique MLB experience for a 24-year-old, having debuted at age 20. Though injuries have slowed him in 2025, he remains locked in as the Rockies’ everyday shortstop and will continue to benefit from Coors Field’s hitter-friendly environment. Averaging around 20 homeruns, 80 runs, and 80 RBIs over his first two seasons, there’s no reason to expect a drop-off if he stays healthy.
- Otto Lopez has taken over as the primary shortstop in Miami and appears to be locked into the role for the foreseeable future. He offers above average speed and profiles as an accumulator type able to compile steady run and RBI totals. Lopez’s long-term value is tied more to his floor vs his ceiling. To take a meaningful step forward, he will need to show improvement in either his power output or stolen base production.
- Trevor Story is signed through 2027 and will be 35 years old when he hits free agency again. His time in Boston has been plagued by injuries, but 2025 marks his first playing 100+ game season with the Red Sox. When healthy, Story still flashes above average power and speed. However, given his age, injury history, and concerns about his hit tool and chase rates, he’s best viewed as a short-term fantasy option with declining upside.
- Aidan Miller and Kaelen Culpepper are both former first-round picks who are quickly climbing the minor league ranks. Each offers an intriguing blend of speed and power, with Miller showing more speed, while Culpepper brings more raw power. Both look to be potential risers in 2026 as they continue to develop and their path to the majors becomes clear.
